Chapter Ten: The first record recorded at the Gold Mine was the first Christian album by B J Thomas who was a major pop star at the time. That album went Gold and won a Grammy. Chris then signed Amy Grant at age 16 to his production company. No one could have predicted the repercussion of one girl’s heart and voice on the Christian world. Others who would descend the basement stairs of Gold Mine Studios to record were Bill Gaither, White Heart, The Imperials, Mark Heard, The News Boys, Honey Tree, Larnell Harris, Sandi Patti, and many others. This chapter chronicles how those Gold Mine records helped Contemporary Christian Music grow into a worldwide phenomenon.
